Among the many up-and-coming celebrities today who happen to have family already in showbiz, Emilio Daez stands out in an unexpected way. While it’s common for new actors to be introduced as “so-and-so’s sibling” or “the son of,” the 25-year-old never seems to need the association to spark interest.
And yet, when you do learn that he’s the younger brother of actor Mikael Daez — and brother-in-law to Miss World Megan Young — it comes as a pleasant surprise. Emilio’s own light is bright enough to render any shadow irrelevant. When asked about this curious but telling absence, Emilio responded with that trademark mix of gratitude and humility he’s quickly becoming known for.“He’s actually been my number one supporter. So I never felt that I was under his shadow,” he said. “I really love when we’re mentioned in the same breath because I look up to him and he’s always there to support me.”This attitude — unfailingly upbeat and grounded — may very well be what landed Emilio his first major endorsement. As of today, he’s officially the new face of KFC Philippines. And just like that, a breakout star becomes a bona fide brand ambassador.“It’s just such a blessing,” Emilio shared at the launch event. “I’m still shocked and so thankful. When I got out of the PBB house, I really didn’t expect all these doors to open so quickly. But I want to work hard for every opportunity that comes my way, and this is a really exciting one.”As KFC Philippines continues its aggressive expansion — 50 new branches scheduled to open this year alone — the iconic fast-food brand is clearly shifting toward fresher, younger energy.“We’ve been tapping fresh, new faces. Emilio represents the modern KFC spirit — kind-hearted, friendly, cool, and charming,” said KFC Philippines’ General Manager Jojo Marcelo, who added that the Pinoy vibe is very much in line with the company’s modernization drive. “He’s someone who feels approachable and real to his generation.”Marketing Head Charmaine Bautista echoed the sentiment, explaining that Emilio joins a growing and carefully curated roster of talents. “We’ve had Kathryn Bernardo with us for more than 11 years, and more recently we’ve ventured into music marketing with Juan Karlos, Zack Tabudlo, and others,” she said. “Emilio is very much a part of that next wave. He brings a different kind of energy — fresh and quietly confident. It’s that Gen Z charm we know will resonate.”For his part, Emilio is both enjoying the ride and ready to work even harder. After wrapping up his first lead role in the volleyball-themed “Love at First Spike,” he now hosts “Idol Kids Philippines” and the online variety show “I Want ASAP.”“Since I’m new, I really try to accept any project that comes my way,” he said. “I also want to do more acting, but I’m just excited to explore everything, really.”Interestingly, Emilio’s partnership with KFC has been a long time coming. “As a content creator, I’ve done multiple videos with KFC, even before 2024. The first time I worked with them, I thought, ‘Wow, it would be a dream to endorse them one day.’ So this really is a bucket list moment for me — literally.”It’s clear that Emilio Daez isn’t merely rising — he’s being embraced. By brands, by fans, by the industry. And it’s not because of who he’s related to, or how many followers he has. It’s because he’s doing the work, showing up with sincerity, and letting his light shine all on its own.
