The A-League’s television partner Network 10 has condemned the actions of a group of violent pitch invaders at Saturday night’s Melbourne derby, supporting a full investigation into the incident which left one of its cameramen injured.
Football Australia said on Sunday it was considering “strong sanctions” after Melbourne Victory fans invaded the pitch and assaulted Melbourne City goalkeeper Tom Glover during an A-League Men’s game. One of Network 10’s camera operators was hit in the back by a flare, but has since recovered.
“Such behaviour has no place in Australian Football. Network 10 fully supports a full Football Australia investigation,” the spokesperson said. “We acknowledge the quick and courageous actions of players, club staff, production crew and referees who were quick to come to the aid of each other.”
