No overseas Filipino workers were injured in the series of earthquakes that shook Taiwan early yesterday morning, the Department of Migrant Workers said.

At least seven people were killed and more than 700 injured on April 3 by a powerful earthquake in Taiwan that damaged dozens of buildings and prompted tsunami warnings that extended to Japan and the Philippines before being lifted.

Together with the Manila Economic and Cultural Office and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, the DMW and its MWOs are working with Filipino communities and leaders, local authorities and employers to ascertain the safety and status of the Filipino workers in Taiwan.

State weather bureau PAGASA warned that the heat index in 44 areas across the country is expected to soar to dangerous levels...
