The group issued a fierce, three-page letter calling on the law school to better protect Black students and further invest in anti-racism and diversity work. “What I know is this: It’s never acceptable to use the n-word because of the baggage and history that comes with it. This is why educators need to be very careful. Their words are not innocent . . .we have to be cognizant of the history behind , and the implications,” said University of Toronto professor George Dei, who has expertise in anti-racism education and inclusive schooling.“This isn’t the first time you hear students resisting that ,” Dei said.
