The New Ninoy Aquino International Airport Infra Corp. (NNIC) will investigate claims that porters working for a third-party service provider at NAIA are being mistreated. While NNIC does not directly employ the porters, it emphasizes its responsibility to ensure fair treatment and compliance with labor laws by all service providers.
THE New Ninoy Aquino International Airport Infra Corp. ( NNIC ) said over the weekend that it would conduct an inquiry on the allegations of porters that they were treated unfairly by their employer, a third-party service provider.The service provider's contract was renewed by the Manila International Airport Authority in 2022 and remains effective for three years.'These porters are not directly employed by NNIC , but we take these complaints seriously,' it said.
'As the airport operator, we have a responsibility to maintain standards and ensure that all service providers treat their employees fairly, respect their rights, and comply with labor laws,' the NNIC added.Since taking over the operations at NAIA on Sept. 14, 2024, the NNIC said it has prioritized improving conditions for workers under its direct employment. This includes offering better compensation and implementing workplace policies that promote fairness and professionalism.'As NAIA's operator, we want to build a workplace that reflects our vision of a modern, efficient airport, where personnel and travelers alike can benefit from an atmosphere of fairness, respect, professionalism and accountability,' it added
