MANILA, Philippines — NLEX shored up its lean frontcourt after signing a three-year rookie pack with young big man Jonnel Policarpio.
The official signing of the 6-foot-5 Policarpio was announced at the team's official social media pages on Monday.A member of the De La Salle side that won last season's UAAP men's basketball championship, the 21-year-old Policarpio is expected to thrive and grow under new coach Jong Uichico, who is making his own head coaching comeback in the PBA.
But the coming Season 49, which kicks off with the Governors' Cup, offers new hope for NLEX.Aside from Policarpio, the team will again be led by high-scoring guard Robert Bolick, and will have former Memphis Grizzlies forward Myke Henry as the team's import.Henry, who went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft, went on to play 20 regular season games for the Grizzlies, where he averaged 5.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.1 assists during the 2018-18 season.
