Property and infrastructure software start-up Willow, which is backed by ex Macquarie Group boss Nicholas Moore, has laid off 22 per cent of it full-time staff and contractors amid technology sector’s valuation woes.

, has laid off 22 per cent of its full-time staff and contractors amid the technology sector’s valuation woes.Willow’s job cuts extended to 72 of its 327-odd full-time employees as well as 27 contractors, and came as it battles the drop in valuations for technology businesses and exits non-core sectors like mining.

The job cuts were understood to be split evenly between Willow’s Australian employees, who work out of its offices in Sydney’s 1 Farrer Place, and their American colleagues.“Willow has been on a strong growth trajectory that has seen us expand internationally, develop a customer base of world-class brands, and create a genuinely transformative product.“However, like many technology companies, we have not been immune to the impacts of the external environment over the past 12 months.
