But the cost of doing this might become prohibitive,' said FFF national manager Raul Montemayor.
The FFF also proposed the establishment of dedicated distribution outlets to prevent the diversion of subsidized rice, rather than relying on rice retailers in public markets.On the other hand, Montemayor said that the 'aggressive rice distribution program' could also be detrimental to rice farmers.'If the NFA sells rice at P10 below the market price, local traders will have to lower their palay buying price by P6 per kilo in order to compete with the NFA,' he said.
