MANILA, Philippines – The Armed Forces’ Joint Task Force Storm conducted a sea operation off the coast of Tarangan, Samar last August 22 that ended with aThis would have been another standard operation if it were not for credible reports that those killed were suspected leaders of the Communist Party of the Philippines , Benito and Wilma Tiamzon.
The encounter resulted from the AFP’s 8-month-long operation last February that focused on the island of Samar, a long-known CPP stronghold.
