IPOH: The police have arrested a couple, who just got married on Monday (April 24), for allegedly distributing drugs.
Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri said both newlyweds, aged 23 and 24, were arrested near a mosque in Chikus, Teluk Intan on Tuesday at about 12.30pm."Both also tested positive for methamphetamine," he said in a statement
"Checks conducted in the car found 20 plastic bags containing substances believed to be heroin, which weighed about 9.3kg, in a luggage bag. "Investigations found that the couple from Teluk Intan, who are unemployed, were recently married on Monday," he said, adding that the drugs were worth about RM77,000."The drugs can be used by 10,000 users," he said, adding that the arrests were made after receiving information from the public.
He said the couple would be remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 39B and Section 15 of the Dangerous Drugs Act."We are now trying to track the mastermind and other members of the syndicate related to the case," he added.
