K-pop girl group NewJeans' members have announced their new group name as NJZ, despite an ongoing legal battle with their former agency ADOR over the validity of their exclusive contracts. ADOR expressed regret over the members' unilateral decision and emphasized its commitment to protecting the NewJeans brand, while reiterating its willingness to engage in discussions to find a resolution. Legal proceedings, including an injunction against independent advertising contracts and a lawsuit affirming the validity of the exclusive contracts, are currently underway.
Korean entertainment agency ADOR issued a statement regarding K-pop group NewJeans’ decision to use the new name NJZ . Last November, NewJeans announced that they terminated their exclusive contract with ADOR . The agency said the contract is valid. “Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein's new group name: NJZ Get ready for an exciting journey with NJZ in 2025! Stay tuned!” NJZ posted on X on Feb. 7.
The agency filed an injunction with the Seoul Central District Court last January to “to prevent members of K-pop girl group NewJeans from signing independent advertising contracts without its consent.”
