Michael Giles, a Melburnian living in the US, has taken a 19.99 per cent stake in the fledgling exchange challenger, NSX Limited.
has previously sold businesses to Block Inc boss Jack Dorsey and accused cryptocurrency fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried.
Block Inc, which was previously named Square, is known in Australia for its $39 billion scrip-based takeover of buy now, pay later firm Afterpay.Mr Giles ended his tenure with Square in late 2019. His investment in NSX made through FinTech HQ is associated with his separate start-up investment outfit, Harland Group. Sources at Block Inc said the investment in NSX was not related to their operations.
Mr Bankman-Fried is accused of illegally using FTX customer deposits to support his Alameda Research hedge fund, buy real estate and make millions of dollars in political contributions. He denies the allegations and is defending the matter. ASIC has accused iSignthis of false and misleading representations and Mr Karantzis for his “involvement in those alleged breaches”, including breaches of his director duties and “his failure to take reasonable steps to ensure information that he gave to ASX was not false or misleading”.
