New LPA unlikely to develop into tropical depression — PAGASA READ:

A new low pressure area has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility but is unlikely to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration advised in its 4 p.m. forecast on Wednesday, Jan. 4.It was seen 205 kilometers northeast of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, or 125 km East of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.Both LPAs are not expected to develop into tropical depressions, PAGASA said.

Cloudy skies with rains are also expected in Cagayan Valley, CALABARZON, and Aurora caused by the northeast monsoon or amihan while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. PAGASA also raised a Yellow Rainfall Warning for the rest of Albay and Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Maguindanao del Norte, the rest of Misamis Occidental, the rest of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains in these areas.
