PETALING JAYA: Some 250 families affected by the recent Johor floods were given new gas stoves to ease their burden after the disaster.
Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, who handed the supplies to the families, said another 1,484 families in the constituency had previously received similar aid.
“This includes mattresses and blankets, kitchen utensils, dried food items and gas stoves,” said the MCA president in a Facebook post on Saturday . Dr Wee thanked Semarang assemblyman Datuk Samsolbari Jamali, Yong Peng assemblyman Ling Tian Soon and their team for working hard in getting such supplies for the flood victims.
“My appreciation also goes to our volunteers and donors who contributed in different ways to help the victims,” he added. Earlier, Dr Wee had also visited three residents in need around the Semarang constituency - Siti Meryam Kadi, 75, who is suffering from a slipped disc, Tamyis Abdul Rashid, 77, who is facing muscle and joints problems and 82-year-old Ejah Salleh.“My prayers and thoughts are with these patients and their families,” he said.
