The coronavirus disease cases in the city of Manila is declining, the independent OCTA Research Group said on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

“New cases in Manila have been decreasing. Weekly growth rate at -seven percent and reproduction number at 1.73. Hopefully, National Capital Region follows this trend. Let’s continue to mask up,” OCTA research fellow Dr. Guido David said in a Twitter post. “The seven-day average of new cases decreased from 1,985 to 1, 829, or a 7 percent decrease,” he said.

He said there is a strong possibility that new cases in the NCR will also decline should new infections in Manila continue to decrease.
