Tropical storm Neneng (international name: Nesat) may further intensify into a severe tropical storm within 24 hours, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

“Neneng may reach severe tropical storm category within 24 hours following its passage over the Luzon Strait, although the possibility of intensification into STS during the passage near or over the Batanes-Babuyan Islands area is not ruled out,” said PAGASA. Meanwhile, wind signals were hoisted as Neneng continues to threaten parts of Luzon, particularly its northern and extreme parts.
