It was nine in the morning on a sunny Sunday when this author hurriedly prepared to meet a good friend, Nemi Miranda, the respected visual artist of Angono, Rizal, known as the art capital of the Philippines.
The author first met Miranda when the latter was the head of the visual arts committee of the National Commission on Culture and the Arts , and the former was the president of the Las Piñas Artist Society.The author together with his wife, El Tagle Margate — also a visual artist — arrived at Nemi 's Museum, and were in profound awe of the artistic facade of his residence and museum, which stands as a testament to Miranda 's unparalleled talent and dedication.
The area was 50 square meters, and for the next ten years, he accommodated fellow Rizal artists and provided them with a space to showcase their art. He learned that becoming an artist and a businessman at the same time was a challenge, and his limited time to manage the gallery eventually led him to focus on his commissioned works while also erecting his gallery in Angono. His resilience in the face of these challenges is truly inspiring.
