Negros Occidental extends COVID19 lockdown until month-end
MANILA - Negros Occidental province will extend the lockdown of its nearly 3 million residents for another 2 weeks to beat the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Wednesday as the province confirmed its first case of the respiratory disease.
One out of 135 residents with symptoms of COVID-19 tested positive for the disease, said Lacson. Four others from the group were waiting for their test results from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine in Muntinlupa and the Western Visayas Medical Center in neighboring Iloilo province, he said.
Local authorities are monitoring 129 people with symptoms of the disease, including 8 who interacted with the province's first COVID-19 patient, said Lacson.
