The National Electrification Administration (NEA) has outlined criteria for electric cooperatives (ECs) seeking exemptions from local taxes, fees, and charges. ECs can earn points based on collection efficiency, financial performance, power outage frequency, institutional practices, and energization rates. Achieving a 75% score grants them a certificate of compliance, allowing them to access the tax exemptions.
THE National Electrification Administration has laid down the criteria and parameters for electric cooperatives who want to avail exemptions from local taxes, fees and charges in their respective local government units .
On the technical side, NEA said the cooperatives will be scored based on the frequency and duration of power outages to gauge network system reliability. Organizations that are deemed compliant with respect to their submissions of reportorial requirements, including their corporate operating budget, will be granted 10 points.
