The reported fatalities due to the bad weather being experienced in many areas in the country since January 1 have increased to 35, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council's (NDRRMC) latest report.

As of 6 p.m. on Sunday, the NDRRMC said 12 of the reported death toll were in Zamboanga, eight in Northern Mindanao, seven in Eastern Visayas, six in Bicol, and one each in Davao and Soccsksargen. Only 19 of the reported deaths have been confirmed so far, according to the NDRRMC, adding seven people were reported missing and seven others were reported injured.

A total of 1,939,860 people or 475,680 families were affected in Cagayan, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Eastern, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga, Northern Mindanao, Davao, Soccsksargen, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. Of the affected population, 92,118 people or 22,634 families were staying inside 358 evacuation facilities, while 29,878 individuals or 8,983 families were taking shelter in other places.Damage to agriculture worth P751,967,912 and to infrastructure worth P276,797,224 were reported due to the impact of the bad weather. The National Irrigation Administration reported P25,610,000 worth of damage.Assistance worth P98,343,275 was provided to the victims, the NDRRMC added.
