The effects of tropical cyclones Nika , Ofel , and Pepito have caused 685,071 individuals to flee their homes and seek temporary shelter elsewhere, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Monday. NDRRMC ’s 8 a.m. situational report showed that of the displaced people, 446,177 were staying in evacuation centers and 238,894 were staying in other places.
The cyclones also partially damaged 7,401 houses and totally damaged 437 others, while 34 roads and 24 bridges were rendered not passable as of the moment. Eleven cities and municipalities were also placed under the state of calamity — eight of which were from Cagayan Valley, two from CAR, and one from Central Luzon.The NDRRMC said classes in 690 cities and municipalities were also suspended. A P49.1 million worth of assistance has also been provided to affected families. As of 5 a.m.
