NDRRMC: 14K individuals evacuated amid Mayon volcano unrest

More than 14,000 residents have been evacuated amid the continued unrest of Mayon Volcano in Albay, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Monday.

In its latest situational report, the agency said a total of 13,792 individuals or 3,782 families are staying at 22 evacuation centers while 584 people or 156 families are staying somewhere else.

Of the displaced families, 883 were from Camalig, 57 were from Ligao, 615 were from Daraga, 1,046 were from Guinobatan, 899 were from Malilipot, and 438 were from Tabaco.According to the NDRRMC, the volcano remains at alert level 3. It warned that hazardous eruption is possible within weeks or even days due to a relatively high level of unrest as magma is at the crater of the volcano.— Joahna Lei Casilao/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
