On Thursday night, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) placed Metro Manila under a more relaxed Alert Level 2 starting Friday following a decline in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases.

WITH the National Capital Region rolling back Covid-19 restrictions and vaccinated Filipinos returning to pre-pandemic activities, Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Jose Maria 'Joey' Concepcion 3rd is confident the Philippines is ready to move toward the new normal marked by greater mobility and a safe reopening of the economy.

'What is important is we are able to sustain this momentum. More mobility also comes with risk, but even if we do see a rise in infections, we have to remember that a fully vaccinated person has a low risk of being admitted in the hospital,' he added. This is the reason the local government units, which have fully vaccinated 70 percent of their population, are allowed an additional 20-percent capacity increase, Concepcion said.
