THE National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) introduced a pair of solo exhibitions at its Intramuros gallery, one a thought-provoking satirical presentation and the other an awe-inspiring display of brass artworks. Castillo likewise goes for the unconventional in terms of creating his sculptures. He pursues peculiar themes, combines the medium with unique materials, and experiments with new techniques to develop innovative pieces that push the envelope in brass artworks. True to the exhibition’s name, Castillo ventured into the beyond.
