MANILA, Philippines – The upcoming NCAA Season 95 men's basketball tournament is shaping up to be an interesting one, with several contenders lining up to try and knock the crown off the San Beda University Red Lions.
The three-time defending champions are still considered the favorites, despite losing Robert Bolick and Javee Mocon to the PBA. The Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates, last season's losing finalists, are also considered top contenders even without CJ Perez, as they still feature Cameroonian center Mike Nzeusseu.Colegio de San Juan de Letran remains a force to be reckoned with, as they welcome back Jerrick Balanza to their line-up. De La Salle-College of St. Benilde is looking to finally break through this season, after falling short last year.
Several players are also expected to step up and take the place of Perez, Bolick, Mocon, and last season's MVP Prince Eze as the new stars of the league.The player formerly known as the "Conductor" is back for Arellano this year, after sitting out the entirety of 2018 with a knee injury. In Season 93, Salado averaged 19 points and 5 assists, and nearly led the Chiefs to the Final 4 before suffering a torn MCL late in the tournament.
