National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) operatives arrested four individuals for allegedly selling fraudulent e-wallet accounts.
In a statement, the NBI said operatives of the NBI-Cybercrime Division arrested Jay Cortez, Kevin Mark Maboloc, Jeffrey Miguel, and Jeffrey Ilagan in varying entrapment operations.
Cortez and his companion Maboloc were arrested on March 20 in Matandang Balara, Quezon City, while Miguel was arrested in Tondo, Manila.The NBI said they received information that the subjects operated in Quezon City and Tondo, Manila using Facebook and Messenger. According to the NBI, Cortez offered P900 for each account, Miguel offered P550, and Ilagan offered P650 for each account. The fake accounts had P100,000, and they could produce 100 more of these.
The suspects were brought to the Office of the City Prosecutor, Quezon City for the crime of Trafficking in Access Devices Fraudulently Applied For.
