The recently concluded 2023 National Food Fair generated sales amounting to P28.271 million, Department of Trade and Industry preliminary reports, showed.
During his speech at the National Food Fair opening ceremony, Trade Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual said the food fair is a “fitting support” for an industry where the country possesses a competitive edge. This, he said, compared with the event’s momentum in 2021, as it “decelerated with the global pandemic,” but underscored the vital role of online selling during the pandemic.
Pascual added that DTI regional and provincial offices continuously discover new entrepreneurs. Moreover, he said the organizers’ “strict criteria” encourage exhibitors to improve their product quality, safety, packaging, labeling, production capacity, and sustainability.
