PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will lead the country in commemorating the 160th birth anniversary of Apolinario Mabini at the Mabini Shrine in Tanauan City, Batangas on Wednesday, July 23, 2024.
The president will be joined by Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner, National Historical Commission of the Philippines Chairman Regalado Trota Jose Jr., Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas, Tanauan City Mayor Nelson Collantes and other officials from the national and local government.After the program, Marcos Jr. will tour the Museo ni Apolinario Mabini which showcases the story of the hero's childhood, struggle and contributions to Philippine history.
His political and nationalist writings helped shape the early years of Philippine independence and the country's struggle against the United States of America during the Philippine-American War.Captured and deported to Guam, he remained in exile for refusing to swear allegiance to the US.He passed away shortly after coming home to Manila in 1903, due to cholera.
