Nathan Studios' debut film, 'Topakk,' makes a splash at the Metro Manila Film Festival, winning three awards and 12 nominations.

Nathan Studios' debut film at the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), 'Topakk,' achieved significant success, garnering three awards and 12 nominations. Veteran actress and producer Sylvia Sanchez-Atayde expressed immense satisfaction and inspiration from the experience, stating, 'We are grateful to the Metro Manila Film Festival for accepting us, even though we are new as a producer. With that, we are already winners for making it on our first try.

' 'Topakk,' the sole action film featured in this year's MMFF, directed by award-winning filmmaker Richard Somes, received the Jury Prize for revitalizing the action genre and the Best Float award. The film also earned the Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ) Memorial Award for Excellence, recognizing 'Topakk' not only as an epic action film but also for its creative execution, widespread appeal, positive values, and themes of family and social justice. Sanchez-Atayde expressed gratitude to the FPJ Board for this honor. She also emphasized the film's international acclaim in 2023, including screenings at prestigious events like the 78th Cannes Film Festival in France, the 76th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, and festivals in Austin, Texas and Catalonia, Spain, before its MMFF premiere. Sanchez-Atayde added, 'The movie was screened, praised, and recognized by audiences abroad... that's why I told Direk Richard, 'Why not show it in our own country?'' Starring Quezon City First District Rep. Juan Carlos 'Arjo' Atayde, Sid Lucero, and Julia Montes, 'Topakk' has elevated the Filipino action film to a global level with its exceptional production, visual effects, cast, sound design, cinematography, and unique storyline. Sanchez-Atayde concluded, 'We are incredibly happy that they allowed us to be in the MMFF this year. We didn't encounter any problems with our staff, actors, and crew.
