Pero ang magandang ibon na ito na mas madalas na nasa lupa, nanganganib nang maubos.

Ayon kay Dr. Monica Atienza, head veterinarian ng Talarak Foundation, nanganganib nang maubos ang lahi ng Negros Bleeding Heart. “Mahirap silang i-breed kasi meticulous sila with the environment kung nasaan sila. If mag-put ka ng Bleeding Heart in a flock, they will not breed on their own. So kailangan meron silang specific area na sila lang dalawa. And walang sound, walang anything na makikita nila. And ‘yun, doon naging successful ‘yung breeding,” sabi ni Atienza.
Dahil dito, nagpadala ng anim na pares ng Negros Bleeding Heart sa Singapore ang Pilipinas noong 2021 sa pag-asang mapaparami sila--at hindi sila nabigo. Para sa kanilang acclimatization o pagsasanay sa bagong kapaligiran sa loob ng isang buwan, inilagay muna ang mga Negros Bleeding Heart sa isang quarantine facility at binalutan ng itim na tela ang kanilang mga kulungan para hindi ma-stress o manibago sa kanilang pansamantalang tahanan.
