JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested three people including a woman for defying the movement control order (MCO) and trying to flee from authorities at Jalan Permas 2/4, here.
Johor Baru OCPD Asst Comm Shahurinain Jais said the suspects, aged between 25 and 40, were arrested after the police noticed a car driven in a suspicious way at Jalan Permas 1.
"The incident occurred at about 3.15am on Monday after a patrol team noticed a grey Proton Saga behaving suspiciously. The team then approached the vehicle before it sped off. "The car drove into Kampung Plentong and Jalan Permas 2 but was blocked by the police at Jalan Permas 2/4," he said in a statement here."Investigations also revealed that all of the suspects had a previous criminal record involving drugs," he said, adding that the suspects are currently under remand to help investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from discharging duties, which provides for imprisonment of up to two years, or a maximum fine of RM10,000, or both if found guilty. The suspects are also being investigated under Section 270 of the Penal Code for conducting malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life and Rule 7 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2020.
