, Nova Scotia’s first mushroom festival for Oct. 16, a place where she said people can connect with like-minded humans who are exploring the world of fungi. “A place to spread our excitement, share our passion, and help grow the living network of fungi,” her festival poster proclaims.
The fungi family consists of yeast, mold, and mushrooms, and despite its abundance, most people know very little about them and some people even suffer from mycophobia – the fear of mushrooms.Giffen said the ethos of her own business is to inspire people to get playful and curious about mushrooms. “At the festival there will be cultivators, there will be foragers, there will be people who work with mushrooms – like herbalists – and who are creating forests of mushrooms, as well as people who work with therapy and mushrooms.
