ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — A recent Memorial University study is analyzing how a type of molecule generated from a high-fat diet may be the culprit for food cravings and subsequent weight gain.
"No one really had a clear answer to why the inflammation in the brain can cause two opposite outcomes,” said Hirasawa. “Our study provides an explanation for the conundrum."noted that a high-fat diet produces an inflammatory molecule in the brain, prostaglandin E2, which activates neurons linked to appetite.
