Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr. said Monday there is no serious threat in Negros Oriental amid a possible postponement of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections there.

At a press conference, Acorda said the PNP will only give inputs but the Commission on Elections will decide if the October polls in Negros Oriental will be moved.“I do believe there is no serious threat as of now sa Negros,” he added.

He made the statement when asked about the possible postponement of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan polls after the Comelec Region 7 last week said that aIf the recommendations of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the PNP are the same, Acorda said the Comelec will have an easy decision on the conduct of barangay and SK elections in the province.

“We are yet to meet with them. We will have a command conference by July," Comelec chairperson George Garcia told reporters when asked if these agencies already made recommendations to the poll body.
