More road time for vehicles with temporary plates

THE country’s top land transportation official will issue a directive allowing brand-new vehicles to ply the roads for 15 days while bearing a temporary license plate. This would be an extension from the current seven days’ allowance.“Maglalabas ho kami ng memo,” Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II, chief of the Land Transportation Office , told SunStar Cebu.

The process The process of vehicle registration and securing of license plates goes like this.The dealer completes the processing of relevant documents for non-motorcycles typically within seven to 11 days from the date of sale to the car owner.The dealer handles the requirements, sales reporting and initial registration. Then the LTO registers the vehicle and issues the Official Receipt/Certificate of Registration and license plate to the dealer.
