More millennials are boycotting the metropolitan lifestyle in favour of regional Australia. According to a new report from the Regional Australia Institute, 54,000 millennials have moved away from capital cities since 2016 – tripling figures from between 2011 and 2016. The exodus has been attributed to a strong jobs market, harsh lockdowns at the peak of the pandemic, as well as more lifestyle benefits.
