The Municipality of Pictou County is rolling out its wifi service FirstHome. “It’s a sense of excitement and relief to get to this point,” said Warden Robert Parker. “A lot of people need this badly. Even for those that don’t need it badly, it’s a big improvement in their lives.” Heather Allen-Johnson has been spearheading the customer service efforts on behalf of the MOPC and is leading the information sessions.
“We want everybody to be able to have this. It’s really important we get it to a price range that hopefully, everybody can afford,” he said. “This service will provide the same download and upload which will be consistent with the definition of high-speed internet, and give everyone equal opportunity to work remotely if that is offered for them,” she said.
