Halifax Mooseheads winger Jordan Dumais tries to deflect a shot by Shawinigan Cataractes defenceman Thomas Hebert during a QMJHL game in Shawinigan on Saturday. - Shawinigan CataractesOne day after their historic points streak came to an end, the Halifax Mooseheads got right back to their winning ways.
The Mooseheads beat the Shawinigan Cataractes 5-2 on the road on Saturday to erase the disappointment of losing in regulation time for the first time since Nov. 27 on Friday. It also gets the team back on track mentally after a challenging 24 hours following the indefinite suspension of winger Zachary L'Heureux on Friday for a post-game altercation with a fan in Gatineau two days earlier.
"For the game in Drummondville, we lost that one in the first period, and it's not an excuse, but we missed a lot of focus in that game completely due to the events of that day," Mooseheads head coach Sylvain Favreau said."Our team was not focused for valid reasons. It's not an excuse but I did like how we came back in that game and then we let it slip. It was just one of those games but it was a good wake-up call for us.
"Today we were missing some elements and I thought that all our guys did a really good job, notably Reece Peitzsche who's 16 years old and he got more opportunity today and did really well." Mooseheads defenceman Cam Whynot and winger Attilio Biasca both missed the game with upper body injuries so Liam Welsh and Jake Todd drew into the lineup.🍎 Lawrence, Vidicek |
