MOL, a leading global shipping company, organized its first overseas company profile seminar for local media in the Philippines, highlighting its commitment to the nation and its long-standing relationship with Filipino seafarers. The seminar, featuring presentations from key executives, underscored MOL's diverse businesses and initiatives in the region.
MITSUI O.S.K. Lines Ltd. ( MOL ), recognizing the Philippines as a crucial component of its ' Blue Action 2035 ' management plan, is strengthening its presence in the country. MOL held its first overseas company profile seminar for local media in the Philippines on February 6. This move underscores MOL 's deep commitment to the nation, particularly its longstanding and vital relationship with Filipino seafarers, who comprise a significant portion of its global workforce.
The seminar, aimed at fostering a greater understanding of MOL's operations, featured presentations from key executives like Yosuke Ishibe, General Manager of MOL's Corporate Communication Division, who provided an overview of the group's global business and environmental initiatives. Following this, Yasunori Takamatsu, chief country representative for the Philippines, delved into MOL's diverse shipping and non-shipping activities within the country, further emphasizing the company's enduring partnership with Filipino maritime professionals and the multifaceted nature of MOL's engagement with the Philippines. He noted that the majority of the seafarers serving aboard MOL-operated vessels were Filipinos and said the Philippines was the foundation for the safe, reliable operation of the MOL Group fleet. In addition, he pointed out that MOL manages the MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy (MMMA), a merchant marine academy, with its valued partner, the Magsaysay Group. In addition to training new Filipino seafarers, MOL and Magsaysay jointly operate training centers for current seafarers to upgrade their qualifications. 'The Philippines is a very important stakeholder for the MOL Group, both in terms of business and ship operations,' Takamatsu said. Guest speaker Jesse Ho Maxwell, president and CEO of Magsaysay Shipping & Logistics, said he hopes to strengthen further the partnership that has existed since 1964. The MOL Group said it would continue to contribute to the region by strengthening both shipping and non-shipping businesses in the Philippines and by training seafarers and aims to realize the regional strategy outlined in the Blue Action 2035 management plan. The MOL executives from the Tokyo office also visited The Manila Times office in Intramuros as part of their Manila visit. MOL, headquartered in Tokyo, is a leading shipping company with the world's second-largest fleet of about 900 vessels and the largest LNG fleet globally. It is developing various social infrastructure businesses, technologies, and services centered on marine transport to meet the ever-changing needs of society, such as environmental protection. MOL's fleet includes dry bulkers, LNG carriers, car carriers, container ships and tankers. In addition to the traditional shipping business, it is also developing social infrastructure businesses such as container terminals, logistics, offshore wind power, and well-being life businesses such as real property, cruises and ferries
