Local authorities in the Philippines are appealing to the public for help in recovering a valuable item believed to have been looted from the wreckage of a US military aircraft that crashed on a rice field in Maguindanao del Sur on February 6, 2025. Sultan Datu Ali Camino, a former vice-mayor and prominent MNLF leader, shared a photograph of a man carrying a black bag suspected to contain the stolen goods. He urged the individual to surrender the bag, warning that authorities are investigating the crash and his identity will likely be revealed.

“If I were you, friend, I will surrender that bag. See US soldiers are not pulling out from here, apparently looking for an important item. Whoever you are, your face would eventually surface in a police sketch,” the MNLF leader wrote in the vernacular in a Facebook post. Earlier, Amer Jehad Ambolodto—one of the rescuers and head of the provincial disaster risk-reduction council—also said that apparently there were no signs of life in the plane wreck.
