The MMDA said on Monday that the transport strike staged by Manibela failed to paralyze public transportation in the National Capital Region.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said the transport strike staged on Monday by Malayang Alyansa ng Bus Employees at Laborers failed to paralyze public transportation in the National Capital Region.
“Kung ang purpose ng strike ay i-paralyze ang public transportation, nabigo po sila. Pero kung ang purpose nila ay magpapansin, siguro nagtagumpay sila sa ganoong aspeto. Nabigyan siya ng airtime, na-interview siya,” MMDA Acting Chairman Don Artes said in a press briefing. "Hindi lamang po ito ang huli, ito po ay simula pa lamang," he added."Inaasahan po namin na rarami pa ang mag-participate."Valbuena also complained that none of their members have received any amount from the ₱3 billion fuel subsidy for public utility vehicle drivers and operators despite government data showing many have received the aid.
In some parts of Metro Manila, local government units provided free rides to commuters affected by the transportation strike.
