The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is intensifying its efforts to clear obstacles on Mabuhay Lanes and major thoroughfares in the lead-up to December. This includes towing vehicles parked illegally and warning vendors about selling goods on sidewalks.
A few days before December, the Metro Manila Development Authority ( MMDA ) intensified its clearing operations , particularly on the Mabuhay Lanes which serve as an alternative route for motorists to avoid traffic on EDSA, C5, Quezon Avenue, Commonwealth Avenue, and other major thoroughfares in Metro Manila . In Biyak na Bato Street in Barangay Sto. Domingo, Quezon City, vehicles parked on the sidewalk were towed away.
Similar actions were taken on Dapitan Street, known for its Christmas decorations. MMDA also warned vendors selling goods on the sidewalks, giving them a temporary reprieve but warning that future actions will be stricter. Despite continuous clearing operations on Mabuhay Lanes, illegal parking still occurs on Hemady Street, Annapolis Street, Eisenhower Street, and Club Filipino Street in San Juan City by 3 PM. MMDA's special operations group leader, Gabriel Go, emphasized that they are working triple shifts to clear not only major thoroughfares but also the Mabuhay Lanes. MMDA traffic enforcers are now working until midnight to manage traffic flow on major thoroughfares until Christmas Eve
