A look-back at Celeste Cortesi’s road to the Miss Universe Philippines 2022, ahead of the global pageant.
The beauty queen was only 20 years old at the time when she came home to the Philippines to join the national competition. She represented the Filipino community in Rome, Italy and would later become the first representative from abroad to win the coveted title. “However, I was very determined to win the crown, so I gave it all. I did my best. I tried to learn English just by myself. I had no teacher at the time. And I think after one month, I already had the coronation night. Everybody knows how it went,” she added.
So it was no surprise when Cortesi made it into the 32 official candidates of Miss Universe Philippines 2022. “If I could stop time, I would spend it with my family, especially my mother,” said the beauty queen. “It’s been two years since I haven’t spent time with my family because they live in Italy, and I came here in the Philippines just by myself. If I had a chance to spend one day, I would definitely be with my mom, and I would just tell her how much I love her and I miss her.
