Despite temporary restraining orders issued by the Supreme Court affecting the production of election ballots, Miru Systems, a technology service provider, remains committed to ensuring a smooth midterm election process.
Miru Systems , a technology service provider, has pledged to deliver seamless midterm elections despite disruptions in the production of election peripherals. Temporary restraining orders issued by the Supreme Court due to electoral disputes have impacted the production of election materials, including ballots.
Andrew Shim, Miru's Project Managing Director, stated that the company is collaborating with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the National Printing Office (NPO) to adjust production schedules and maintain efficiency. The revised contract includes the deployment of four additional printing machines from the NPO to complement the two advanced HP printers provided by Miru Systems. The Comelec announced that with this augmented equipment, all ballots will be printed by April 14, 2025. Shim emphasized the shared commitment to ensuring a smooth election process, expressing confidence in the NPO's capabilities based on their successful record in previous Philippine elections. He stressed the importance of on-time ballot printing to ensure timely delivery of all peripherals to various regions. The NPO aims to produce 1.5 million ballots daily, incorporating outputs from Miru's high-tech printers. The printed ballots will undergo verification by 800 Comelec officers and 20 Miru technical experts. Shim highlighted Miru's participation in mock elections to test the automated system, describing it as a valuable opportunity for identifying areas requiring improvement. Furthermore, 6 million ballots printed before the Supreme Court issued the temporary restraining orders have been delivered to the Comelec's warehouse in Sta. Rosa. These ballots will be marked with updated serial numbers to distinguish them from newly printed ballots
