NSW Opposition Leader Chris Minns is defending his decision to invest in a new fleet of buses while shelving two metro lines which were set to link parts of Sydney’s west to the city’s new airport.
Mr Minns is citing the immediate need for public transport to an airport which is set to be operational before the connecting metro lines – a timeline he has criticized as he says the amount of jobs, both for building and operating an airport, deserve a current solution.
Both the Coalition and Labor governments in New South Wales continue to clash over how their opposing parties will fund their infrastructure promises. The polls for the state election in March show Labor with an increasing majority but Perrottet’s personal touch sees him remain the status of preferred Premier.

‘Not a good sign of a leader’: Minns slammed for prioritising metro in marginal seatsWestern Sydney residents should have “a voice” and be treated “fairly” after NSW Labor Leader Chris Minns announced Labor would delay metro projects in the region, says Fairfield Mayor Frank Carbone. The state Opposition Leader announced they would instead focus on metro projects connecting north and south Sydney. “If he really wanted to look after the people of Sydney when it comes to tolls he would build this because it would get cars off the road through one of the most urbanised areas in Sydney,” Mr Carbone told Sky News Australia. “He’s playing politics and trying to drive the rail lines in the areas he wants to win which are the two marginal seats. “Unfortunately, this is not a good sign of a leader.”

Minns accused of abandoning Western Sydney metro plans to ‘play politics’NSW Labor Leader Chris Minns is “playing politics” by prioritising rail lines in marginal seats at the expense of Western Sydney’s metro proposals, according to Fairfield Mayor Frank Carbone. His comments come after NSW Labor announced they would delay the metro projects which would connect Sydney’s east to west – and instead focus on connecting the city’s north and south. “Here we are facing a scenario where in Western Sydney people are still going to have to face hours and hours on public transport,” Mr Carbone told Sky News Australia. “Why take the two projects off the table which have been identified by Transport for NSW – the one project … Infrastructure Australia and Infrastructure NSW has said is a priority. “He’s playing politics and trying to drive the rail lines in the areas that he wants to win which are the two marginal seats. “I’ve put six years of my life into fighting for that link.”

Mr Dutton said in a media conference, Australia should pursue the United States model as it provides “interoperability with the Americans” and there would be “more” US submarines in the Indo-Pacific than British ones. Mr Conroy said the Opposition Leader’s comments are “incredibly irresponsible” and he is “either being mischievous or is not privy to the latest information.”
