Mohamad Khalid Dimaporo is urging the Department of Foreign Affairs to apprise Congress of the status of the Philippines’ claim over Sabah.The chairman of the House Committee on Mindanao Affairs filed House Resolution No. 59, calling on the DFA to brief the House of Representatives on the matter for the benefit of Filipinos living in Sabah.
“The Supreme Court, on its decision dated July 16, 2011 has retained the Philippine claim to Sabah and that it can be pursued in the future,” the House leader said. In a budget briefing on Sept. 4, Locsin reaffirmed the Philippines’ claim over Sabah after Dimaporo asked if the DFA has allocated funds for Sabah.
Locsin cited that the Sabah claim was initiated during the administration of the late President Diosdado Macapagal.
