miHoYo have announced additional information on the latest title in the ever-growing HoYoverse and if initial fan reaction to Zenless Zone Zero’s trailer is the only metric, the Chinese developers might have another hit on their hands.
Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd creators Zenless Zone Zero is set in a world where an otherwordly disaster known as the “Hollows” wiped out most of society. Players take on the role of a “Proxy” and act as special individuals tasked with guiding people in their exploration of the “Hollows”.
Breathtaking setting aside, the trailer also features a cast of diverse characters in the form of a cat lady, a modified-chainsaw-swinging maid, and a bear with explosives. Fighting sequences are dramatic in a way that makes me wish the game goes on the turn-based RPG route but miHoYo’s track record with successful action RPGs proves otherwise.
