Bakit may SONA bawat taon?, na “dapat magtalumpati ang Pangulo sa Kongreso sa pagbubukas ng regular na sesyon nito.” Nag-uumpisa ang regular na sesyon ng Kongreso tuwing ikaapat na Lunes ng Hulyo, ayon naman sa Article VI, Section 15.

Responsibilidad din ng mga mamamayang alamin ang mga plano ng administrasyon para sa ating bansa na babanggitin sa SONA. Dahil ito ang unang SONA ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr., inaabangan ng marami na banggitin dito ang kanyang mga plano, na hindi narinig o hindi nalinaw noong siya ay nangangampanya at nang siya’y nagtalumpati sa kanyang inagurasyon noong Hunyo 30.
