Aside from Metro Manila, the Covid-19 positivity rates in seven Luzon areas have exceeded 20 percent, which is considered as “high,” according to the metrics used by OCTA Research. ManilaBulletin
In an update on Sunday night, May 7, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said the seven-day Covid-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila has increased from 17.2 percent on April 29 to 22.7 percent on May 6.
High positivity rates were also observed in Batangas , Bulacan , Camarines Sur , Cavite , Isabela , Laguna , and Rizal .David previously stated that the spread of the Covid-19 Omicron subvariant XBB.1.16 may have contributed to the increase in Covid-19 cases. Positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from among those who have been tested for Covid-19.On May 7, the Department of Health reported 1,920 new Covid-19 cases across the country, of which 784 cases were recorded in Metro Manila.He said the country’s current positivity rate is 19.9 percent, up slightly from 19.3 percent during the previous day.
