The parent company of Facebook announced that its Avatars, or the customizable digital versions of users will have new body shapes, hair, and clothing options.Body shapes, which were"all pretty similar" before and"maybe a little rectangular" according to Meta, will now have wider range, including two curvier ones. The preexisting ones will be also be refined according to the company.

Meta said it also partnered with German sports brand Puma to offer more outfits at the Avatars Store, which Meta describes as a one-stop shop for Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and in virtual reality.The avatar's hair, clothing, and eyes were also given additional detail and realism to look better in profile pictures, cover photos, and more, according to Meta. Its lighting model was also tweaked to add a reflective gleam to an Avatar's eyes, it added.

"[W]e’re continuing to make your avatar look better in smaller and subtler ways as well, because those details help your personality shine through," Meta said in its blog post. "Keep an eye out for more changes. We have a lot of improvements coming to avatars this year, and we can’t wait to share more!"Share this article
